BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - All across the country, companies added more jobs in March.

In North Dakota, the increase was just over 1%. That’s 4,700 jobs in the past year.

Health care had the greatest increase. Most of the state’s job openings are in health care, agriculture and retail.

“The last several, seven months, we’ve had year-over-year declines in mining. Manufacturing has been declining. That, of course, is going to depend on how far tariffs go,” said Marcia Havens, a labor market information manager for North Dakota Job Service.

Havens said more people are returning to the workforce since COVID, but said it’s tough to project what will happen in the future.
